HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR THERAPIST IS ANY GOOD?

ree

So you want to try some therapies as you 've heard they may help you, or perhaps you're just intrigued to find out about something you've not tried before. You may have seen an advertisement, a blog post, you may even have been given a place to try by your friends, or professional. But how do you know if the therapist you've chosen is going to help? Whether you are looking to try reiki or massage, acupuncture or aromatherapy, it’s important to find the services of a suitably qualified and professional therapist.

In all the years of my working as a therapist I can count on one hand how many people have actually checked my qualifications and yet this should be the one thing you check out Not only that, you need you check they are insured too! Any reputable therapist will have no problems in producing their qualifications and insurance details. be qualified in the therapies they practise, also be insured to practise and show that they are continuing to undertake professional development (regularly update their knowledge/skills).

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR TREATMENT

So you have made a decision to try a therapy but before you book your first treatment there maybe some questions you may need to ask before you finally decide on your therapist.

1.Where are you located? I am a mobile therapist and visit people within your home, but also work from a clinic too. Some therapists may work from therapy centres, hospices or medical establishments , some from hairdressing or beauty establishments.

2. What is the best therapy for my needs?

Before making a decision something that you may have to consider is your your personal health or circumstances such as if you have limited mobility or whether you prefer a more clinical environment for your treatment. Does the therapist provide couch, chair, to adapt to my needs . Is the therapy suitable for my nee therapists will complete a full health assessment pre treatment to make sure that your needs are being met . Do not let anyone pressure you into receiving a treatment you do not feel comfortable with. If you are unsure about receiving any complementary or alternative therapies whilst taking medication please discuss with your GP or health advisor first. Sometimes it is necessary to obtain GP permission if you are pregnant, have complicated medical issues or concerns.

3. What experience do you have? If you have medical conditions that you are seeking help with then this might be relevant to you. Knowing that your therapist has helped people with similar issues and has experience who have similar needs to your own can help you make a decision whether to continue with your chosen therapist. Checking their qualifications and experience can give you more insight into their abilities.

4. How much do you charge? There are many factors to cost, such as location, they type and length of the therapy, or treatment you are having. Some therapists offer discounts for block bookings.

5. When are you open?

Some therapists only work certain days, times of the week and may not be available when you require them. Some work evenings and weekends, so its worth just checking before to know if they can fit into your schedule. Most therapists are quite flexible and will try to accommodate your preferences.

A professional therapist will always make you feel at ease, and will be polite, thoughtful, confident, honest, and will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have .

WHATS NEXT?

So you've taken the plunge, checked out the recommendations, done your research and found your therapist, and you re happy with your decision now its time to enjoy that treatment and discover why so many people love to experience the many therapies on offer. But.........

What happens if i am not happy with my treatment?

In the unlikely event you feel that you are not happy with your treatment, contact your therapist with your reasons why and see if they can be resolved. If you feel uncomfortable during your treatment or feel that something was inappropriate you are able to stop at any time. All professional therapists sign up to an accredited register and code of conduct.
